Ford County Lake Trail [1]

The trail head can be found on 116 Road, just six miles northeast of Dodge City. The 11 mile trail offers sections of open terrain through CRP ground and then meanders through tall ageless cottonwoods nearer the lake bed. The trail offers something for everyone as you can find log jumps and serious climbs as well as wooden bridges and easier sections through what we call “Sherwood Forest”. Expect to share the trail with deer and other critters as well as many species of birds and owls. The trail is maintained year-round but is most manicured throughout the autumn, winter and spring seasons. An organized ride with local enthusiasts happens most Sunday afternoons at 2:00. Many die-hard riders also ride at night several days a week during the autumn and winter months beginning at 6:00 p.m. when you’ll want to dress warm and bring your lights for a challenging fast ride with the big boys. Check out our Facebook Page for up-to-date information concerning trail conditions and organized rides.
