Iola State Street Trail [1]

The State Street Trail is a concrete sidepath connecting Cofachique Park (and the Prairie Spirit Trail) to Iola’s northern commercial and industrial district. The concrete trail parallels State Street, the community’s primary north-south commercial corridor, which is a pedestrian-unfriendly 45 MPH suburban-style arterial roadway with four lanes and a center turn lane. The businesses along this roadway include big box retail, discount stores, farm and home, fast food, casual dining, and industrial employment.

The trail provides safe passage for people walking, running, or biking along State Street. The trail project was funded entirely by the City of Iola. In addition to adding the path, the project also improved curb cuts and ramps along the 0.8-mile length of the trail.
