Join Flint Hills Master Artist Susan Rose, and local author and nature interpreter Ted Cable, on a sensory awakening nature experience as they walk through the Flint Hills to see it “through an artist’s eyes.” Techniques will be given and practiced to more thoroughly observe, enjoy and be inspired by the revealed nature around us. Through active journaling and sketching opportunities along the walk, participants will enable and enliven their senses to take in the wonder and beauty that abounds in the Flint Hills whether it be found in the grand vista, the dried plants along the path or the Harris’s Sparrow whistling in the shrub.
Susan Rose is a featured artist in the Flint Hills Masters exhibition whose art has exhibited throughout Kansas. Ted Cable is an expert nature interpreter, author, and professor of park management and conservation at Kansas State University. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars and cameras. Notebooks and pencils will be provided. Meet at the Konza Biological Station Nature Trail kiosk. Pre-registration is required and space is limited so sign up today.
