150th Anniversary Battle of the Blue

Historic/Cultural Program
Posted by: Historic Topeka Cemetery
In categories: Historic/Cultural Program
Historic Topeka Cemetery hosts historic, educational, and cultural events throughout the year. Most of these involve a walking tour around the grounds. On October 30, 2014, we marked the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of the Blue with ceremonies in front of the Gage monument, erected in 1895 to the memory of the men who gave their lives in that battle. Maj. Gen. Lee Tafanelli, Adjutant General for the State of Kansas, was the guest speaker.
