Event Description:

UPDATE: The March 30/31 Maintenance Outing has changed to Sunday March 31 only, due to weather and trail conditions. Still meeting a Longview Park at 9:30am, and we'll proceed from there to the work site.

Rescheduled from March 9 to March 30 due to weather and trail conditions.

On Saturday, March 30, we will be relocating two small sections of trail away from the lake's edge, due to ongoing erosion. Time permitting, we may also remove some downed trees in this general area. Trail reroute locations are around Mile 9.5, and Mile 7. Additional tree deadfall removal is around Mile 1.5, if time allows.

We will be working with both power and hand tools in an outdoor environment. The reroute locations are along the shoreline, so if it's cold and windy please dress accordingly. Be sure to dress in layers, as it is likely to start out cold but warm up during the day. Given the highly variable weather at this time of year, be prepared for light rain and/or snow as well.

We have a trailer with power equipment, as well as extra hand tools such as bow saws, loppers, as well as specialized tools such as Pulaskis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulaski_(tool)) and McLeods (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McLeod_(tool)). You should bring work gloves. Additional hand tools that you want to bring are optional. Also bring your own lunch, snacks and plenty of water.

We will meet at 9:15 am at the parking lot of the Longview Disc Golf Course (39.186820, -95.441111). To get there from US 24 / Town of Perry, take Ferguson Road north about 9 miles to 86th Street and turn left. To get there from Kansas 92 / Ozawkie / Old Town, take Ferguson Road south 2.5 miles to 86th Street and turn right.

Once you're on 86th Street, follow it west for 1.5 miles where it curves to the south, then continue another mile until you see the disc golf parking lot to the right. If the parking lot is full, you can park along the road.

NOTE that we are planning another maintenance trip on March 30, with work location TBD at this time.
