Paddle the Kaw

My wife and I are paddling the entire Kaw (Kansas) River from start to finish! Our adventure is being supported by a Picky Bars Lifepoints Adventure Grant. https://pickybars.com/the-scoop/lifepoints-adventure-grant-winners/ We're planning to do this in 3 consecutive weekends and hoping to get more paddlers to join us for segments in an effort to promote outdoor recreation in Kansas and spread the word that paddling in Kansas is fun!

This is the kick-off trip. We'll be paddling from Junction City (where the river officially becomes the Kaw) to Manhattan. Everybody is welcome to join us! All you need is a canoe or kayak. Besides that, you should bring plenty of water and sunscreen. If you don't have a boat, you can rent one and there might even be grant money available to help with that. Contact me if you're interested.

We'll meet at the boat ramp underneath KS177 (accessed from McDowell Creek Road - see map: https://www.google.com/maps/dir//39.1729918,-96.5534435/@39.1725209,-96.5543149,419m/data=!3m1!1e3) at 7:00 AM. From there we will figure out what cars to leave behind for shuttle and then take our boats to Junction City. The paddle will be 22 miles total. There is also a boat ramp in Ogden and we could set up a shuttle car there as well if anyone wants to do a shorter trip.

Note that photos will be taken that could be published on Picky Bar's website. If you do not want to be included in these, it's not a problem you just need to let us know ahead of time.
