Event Description:

We plan to complete the construction of the new boardwalks on the Blue Trail west of the park road. We will work from 9:00 until around noon installing the tread boards on the new frame that crosses a boggy hillside spring area.

What to Bring: Bring your cordless drills with as many charged batteries as you have.

Location Details: We'll be working on a the Blue Trail just west of the west park road. Park along the east side of the road and hike west a short distance from the bridge.

Event Description:

We'll be working on improving part of this 30-mile trail. Bring a lunch, water, and bow saws or loppers if you have them (we do have extra). Weather postponement date is March 24.

We will be meeting at 9:15 am at the Ferguson Road Trail Access on the west side of Ferguson Road, halfway between US-24 and KS-92). If you are coming from the Kansas City area, you can meet us at International House of Pancakes (IHOP), 15350 Shawnee Mission Parkway in Shawnee at 8:00 am.

What to Bring: Bring a lunch, water, and bow saws or loppers if you have them (we do have extra).

Event Description:

The volunteer groups that help maintain the 29-mile Perry Lake Hiking Trail are celebrating its 40th year as a National Recreation Trail.

The formal event is organized by DGA. Participants can contact DGA (see link) to sign up for guided hikes/meals OR do a self-guided hike at no cost. In either case, please drop by our information tables to learn more about Perry Lake Trail, our volunteer team and other area information.

What to Bring: Hiking gear, water, layers (depending on weather), and smiling faces!

Event Description:

We'll be working on clearing a new turn on the downhill section of the Sunset Loop (southwest loop) on the south end of the loop. We'll also begin the process of clearing honeysuckle in the middle of the Sunset Loop so that we can begin design of some additional downhill sections.

What to Bring: We'll provide loppers, hand saws and pulaskis but if you have your own tools feel free to bring them along. It would be a good idea to wear gloves and eye protection.

Event Description:

Enjoy watching artists create masterpieces of our local landscape painting in plein air.

Register for Stems Plein Air Paint 2018. Artist submissions will be judged for cash prizes and top winners will be chosen for a special plein air sales tent at the Stems event, June 23. All submissions are eligible for an Art at the Center feature show at the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center. Artists must pre-register to participate in this event.

Event Description:

Put a bird in it! Kids ages 8 and up will enjoy building their own wren house designed for the suburban yard. Our volunteers will lead this fun and interactive class. Additionally, we will make use of good old-fashioned hammer and nails. By the end of class you will have built a bird house to take home.

One adult participant is required for each student for no extra fee. More than one person can work on a single house. $15 per project plus admission.
