Event Description:

The Grassland Grind is a mostly gravel bike race that will be held Saturday, September 17 th at 10:00 am in historic Council Grove. The Grassland Grind has been created to promote cycling in Council Grove and surrounding areas. It also is an opportunity to raise funds for the Council Grove Life Center, a nonprofit organization that serves many surrounding areas and all age groups by promoting wellness and education through innovative mind, body, and social experiences. The funds raised will be used to purchase spin bikes and other equipment for the Life Center.

Event Description:

This is the 21st year for the Bruce Whaley Spirit Ride, an annual fundraiser organized by KVBC and the Whaley family for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (see below for additional information). There will be SAG stops, a lunch provided, many giveaways, and a silent auction. Please join us for this important and fun ride!

WE'RE GOING TO CAMP! Remember going to camp when you were a kid? Bunk beds, dining hall, campfires and s'mores? Yep, this retreat will have all of those things and more! We are going to be staying at Camp White on Council Grove Reservoir in the Flint Hills!! It is BEAUTIFUL THERE! Time to get away for a weekend to refresh and rejuvenate! (This is an event just for Dirty Girls!)

Event Description:

I am riding in the 2016 Great Cycle Challenge this June to fight kids' cancer!

Because right now, cancer is the largest killer of children from disease in the US AND on average, 38 children die from cancer every week.

So I am raising funds to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Rossville Tall Corn BBQ Contest is a Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) sanctioned competition. Pit Masters smoke their specialty, Brisket, Chicken or Pork with care and passion. The air is filled with delicious smoke that is enticing. Spend a summer day in the City Park under the tall shade trees. Come to compete or to visit with the pit masters. Fun for all ages!!

2016 Novice Series Program
Welcome!!! This program is intended to help new riders get started in the sport of BMX racing.

How it Works:
1. There are 12 events from May to October. Riders must participate in at least 6 events and the final on October 15, 2016.

2. Riders are scored on attendance only, how a rider finishes the race is not important.

3. All riders participating in the Novice Series Program must be in the Novice class at their first race.

What to Bring: Requirements: Bike, Long sleeve shirt, long pants, helmet, close toe shoes and most importantly a great attitude! We do have a few loaner bikes, balance bikes and helmets but, they're first come first serve!

Event Description:

Funds raised go toward campground and trail improvements. Ride the trails on your own or follow a guided ride. 9:30am, registration begins; rides of varying length and ability will leave at intervals beginning at 10am for the 3-hour, faster paced ride. Lunch at 1pm; please bring a dish to share - burger/hot dogs/buns/chips provided. 1:30pm, report on projects completed and live auction. Donations accepted for the auction.

What to Bring: Bring your own horse, a covered dish to share at lunch, and your lawn chair. Contact Perry State Park, 785-246-3449, to reserve an improved campsite. Primitive camping and day parking available.
