Memorial Butterfly Count

Volunteers are invited to help count butterflies in the Flint Hills prairie. No experience is necessary to join the group in documenting the area's variety and number of butterfly species. The day begins with a short orientation. Participants then divide into small groups each with an experienced leader and carpool to different locations within 7 miles of count headquarters. Some walking in prairie grasses is necessary. Participants may stay for all or part of the count.
