Event Description:

This is huge. Sunflower Outdoor and Bike Shop is partnering with the Kansas Trails Council and LMBC - Lawrence Mountain Bike Club to bring you the Kansas Trails Conference 2016! In addition, we're reaching out to shops, organizations, and individuals all around town to help out. What will be doing? We're going to do mad maintenance on our area biking, hiking, and running trails with the company of dozens of friends and like-minded folks!

We'll kick off the event with a meet-and-greet and trail maintenance how-to at Sunflower Outdoor on Friday evening, November 18. Saturday morning, work starts at 9:00am at the lower parking lot of the Lawrence River Trails. There will be many types of jobs of varying intensity, such as raking leaves, lopping branches, sawing logs (no sleeping allowed), wrestling grapevine, and maybe even some dirtwork. We will break into groups according to what task interests you most.

At approximately noon, we'll all gather back at the trailhead to "Oooo" and "Awww" over our spic and span trail. Afterwards, you're encouraged to test the newly-renovated, flowy, fun trails and you shouldn't have to duck, dive, or dodge a leaf nor a branch a single time!!! Teamwork!!!

What next? The Clinton Lake and Perry Lake Trails! In the Spring, we'll have similar events to tackle our neighbors to the west and the north. Can you imagine miles and miles of clean, well-maintained trails? It's going to be great!!!

What to Bring: Wear sturdy boots and gloves.
