Event Description:

The second annual Great Kaw Adventure Race is scheduled for September 24, 2016 and will include just over 30 miles of running, canoeing, and cycling in Eudora and De Soto. Two-person teams are given up to six hours to compete against one another in a 7.5 mi. run through Eudora, followed by an 11.5 mi. canoe segment on the Kansas River, then an 11 mi. bike ride from De Soto back to Eudora on pavement and gravel. As with all adventure races, physical and mental challenges are interspersed throughout the course to keep teams on their toes. Prizes include two kayaks, two bicycles, and two gift cards to Ad Astra Running and will be awarded to the first, second, and third place teams, respectively, that complete all challenges and end the race together. Team registration costs $150 and all net proceeds go to Friends of the Kaw to assist in preservation and conservation efforts of the Wakarusa and Kansas Rivers. The race will conclude with a party in downtown Eudora where participants, their supporters, and the community can enjoy live music, flavors from area food trucks, a beer garden, and kids activities.
